Hi, I’m Lyn. I am the director & academic manager of TESOL Australia.
I have over 30 years of teaching experience. I have been teaching ESL internationally, as well as training those who are willing to become TESOL teachers.
Firstly, the ITT course has a wealth of teaching knowledge and skills built into the program to empower the teacher in the ESL classroom. In addition, the course is full of ‘ready to go’ ESL warm-ups, games and activities giving the new teacher a head start in lesson preparation. ITT is a fully comprehensive course covering TESOL Methodology, lesson planning, childhood development, classroom management and so much more. Any teacher completing this course will be fully qualified and skilled to teach ESL to children.
Only native teachers can teach children well?
In the teaching of ESL to young learners a bilingual teacher is the best. This is due to their knowledge of the culture and background of the learners, which promotes a relaxed and ‘natural’ learning environment. Stress is a well-known hindrance in English language learning and so a bilingual teacher will be a great pathway for the learners because their experiences of overcoming the language and cultural barriers enable the learners to focus on ‘what is being taught’ rather than ‘who is teaching’.
So, go ahead!
Start your career in teaching English as a second language and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children studying ESL. Teaching is a rewarding and highly regarded career choice with many rewards!
